La Jolla UMC Sanctuary Stained Glass Windows

The windows were designed and made by the Genesis Glass Company of Escondido. Members of the Memorial Window Task Force were: Margarette Walker – Chairman of the Commission on Worship, Christine McDonald, Mary Nickell and Charles Dennis, pastor.

The seven stained glass windows in the LJUMC Sanctuary tell the story of the creation of the world in six days and a Sabbath rest as found in Genesis 1:1-2:3.

ONE – Creation of light, separation of light from darkness: day and night
          -light and dark colors

TWO – Separation of waters bgelow from waters above: sea and sky
          – clouds above water

THREE – Separation of dry land from waters, earth from sea: vegetation
               – green trees; earth and water

FOUR – Creation of sun, moon, and stars to mark day and night
             – sun, moon, stars

FIVE – Creation of birds and sea animals to fill the sky and sea.
           –  birds and fish

SIX – Creation of land animals and humankind to fill the earth and live on it
         – male and female

SEVEN – The Sabbath
               – Old and New Testament worship symbols
