A note from Theresa: I have taken the opportunity to organize all the archival materials of the church. While all of the church’s archives are essential to keep, I have had the most fun looking through the historical information. I will share with you in the coming weeks some of the gems that I have uncovered.

The Beginning of La Jolla UMC

The La Jolla Methodist Church was organized by Bishop Gerald Kennedy on May 28, 1953, with only seven members. For some time the congregation met in the old casa, and Dr. McFadden the Chaplain at the Casa de Manana was the interim pastor until Rev. Thomas H. Denman was appointed as resident pastor in October.
