Book Talk is a group of enthusiastic readers who meet monthly in the Fireside Library to listen to presentations by church members and friends of books they have read and loved.
Generally we meet on the first Wednesday of each month, October through May, at 2pm, in the Fireside Library, for about one hour. There is no requirement that you read the book scheduled, or that you rsvp for any meeting, and we encourage you to bring friends!
As of this date, we have several presenters committed:
Cindy Rushing will review the book Theo of Golden, by Allen Levi, on Wed, Oct. 7. This novel has been a huge hit with book clubs, and we expect many of our members have read it, guaranteeing a lively discussion!
Mark Drozda (husband of Joyce Drozda) and a regular past presenter, has promised to share a book again this year. Mark often reviews nonfiction. In the past, his books have included robust accounts of sailing in the nineteenth century, function of the human body and its modern “replacement parts”, the wild days of the Texas oil industry, and other “brawny” topics.
And on December 9 we will again welcome longtime Warwicks presenter Mary Lee Delafield, who will review her favorite picks for the holiday season and offer books for sale! This is perhaps our best attended and favorite meeting of the year, so put it on your calendar now!
Dr. Diane Schneider will review her personal memoir, Lives on Brown Cards – A Physician’s Unexpected Journey, at our March 2 meeting in 2027, with commentary by Dr. Peter McCreight and Sandy McCreight. This book is available for preorder now. I would love to see a big turnout for Diane, hopefully including many of the physicians and other health care professionals in our congregation.
As we fill in more presenters, we will update you with further articles in the bulletin and Journal. If you want the most up-to-date info and reminders, add yourself to our email distribution list, by contacting Susan Russell.
See you in the Library!his opportunity to hear Mary Lee and do some early Christmas shopping!
Except as noted above, all meetings will start at 2pm in the Fireside Library. Bring a friend!
