Lent & Easter

Lent & Easter

As we enter the season of Lent, we embark once again on a journey of reflection, renewal, and deepened discipleship. This year, our Lenten series, The Last Supper, is based on a book by the same name by Bishop Will Willimon, who invites us to explore this season through Jesus’ most memorable parables. Through worship, study, and special services, we will examine stories of reckless sowers, searching shepherds, prodigal fathers, and open invitations, discovering a God who refuses to take no for an answer.

Sunday Worship Series: The Last Supper

Lent is a season of reflection and preparation, and our worship series this year invites us to listen to stories Jesus told around a table as we journey toward the upper room and the last supper.

Join us in worship each Sunday as we journey through The Last Supper: Conversations That Led to the Cross, culminating in Holy Week and the celebration of Easter. Worship is in-person at La Jolla UMC and live-streamed.

Congregational Studies

During Lent, we encourage you to deepen your faith by participating in a study group. Our weekly Sermon Notes will continue to serve as a guide for personal reflection and group discussions. Sermon notes are included in our weekly email and on our website, and a printable version is available as well.

In addition, we offer the following study opportunities:

  • Explorers – A Sunday morning discussion group that examines faith through various topics and perspectives. Meets Sunday mornings at 8:30am in the Fireside Library. A Zoom link is also available by contacting our church office.
  • Wednesday Evening Men’s Study – This Lent, the group will be using Adam Hamilton’s video study, Forgiveness: Finding Peace Through Letting Go.
  • Thursday Morning Bible Study – Meets weekly by Zoom to explore scripture together.

For more information on any of these study groups, please contact the church office. Wherever you are on your faith journey, there is a place for you to connect and grow this season.

We invite you to journey with us this Lent—through worship, study, and community—as we prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter morning.
