Interfaith Shelter Network – 2021 Update

Interfaith Shelter Network – 2021 Update

The Interfaith Shelter Network is continuing to serve the people experiencing homelessness even though churches are not hosting the shelters during the pandemic. The guests are being housed in motels, and meals are being delivered. It’s really not the same personal connection that we obtain when we host the guests in Memorial Hall and share wonderfully cooked meals with them. However, they have been provided with a safe and warm place to sleep during cold and rainy nights; and the social service support of the program has continued. Many of the guests have obtained employment and/or housing during their stay in the shelter program.

Our response to the homelessness has shifted to Project Grace this year, but we continue our support of the Interfaith Shelter Network with an $800 contribution this year. Their accomplishments so far this year include the following:

San Diego County:

  • Sheltered 213 guests/122 households
  • 7,391 bed nights and 22,173 meals
  • Housed: 45 households/80 individuals
(Housed means that housing was arranged for the guests.)
  • Employment: 25 households/28 individuals.

Beach Area:

  • Sheltered: 21 households/35 individuals
  • Housed: 7 households/17 individuals
  • Employment: 4 households/4 individuals.

Thank you for your support of the Interfaith Shelter program for 35 years!
