Shoreline Community Services has reached out to local churches for assistance during the current suspension of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Although Shoreline’s mission does not include food services, they are seeing first-hand the crisis being faced by our unsheltered neighbors.
They have started an Amazon Wishlist that people can order specific items from or use the list as a guideline for shopping and delivering themselves. Use the button below for the Amazon Wishlist, and items will be delivered to Shoreline. You can easily select the items you wish to donate and they will be sent directly to Shoreline.
If you wish to personally shop for some food items, they are accepting the following:
- individually packaged snacks such as oatmeal
- ramen noodles
- pretzels
- cereal bars
- applesauce
- fruit cups
- and more.
Items can be dropped off at Shoreline Community Services: 1004 Chalcedony St., San Diego | Mon–Fri, 10 a.m. –4 p.m. OR you can drop them off at church and the Missions Committee will deliver to Shoreline.
This is a very local response to the food needs of our community, but this is a national issue. Please also support the food banks in San Diego and across the nation. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) just announced that it is providing assistance to food programs in UMC congregations. You can contribute to UMCOR, Shoreline and CCSA on our online donation webpage.
